Grand Park celebrates the traditions of Día de los Muertos with multiple ways to experience and learn about the holiday. In partnership with Self-Help Graphics & Art and Lore Media & Art, the park will present 50 altars and art installations created by local artists and community groups that reflect the theme Looking to the Past to Build the Future.
The park will offer free guided lunchtime tours, which will highlight the artwork and discuss the traditions of the holiday.

Since its incorporation in 1973, SHG has produced over 1,000 art print editions, including 54 Atelier projects and exhibitions all over the world. The organization remains dedicated to the production, interpretation and distribution of prints and other art media by Chicana/o and Latinx artists; and its multidisciplinary,intergenerational programs promote artistic excellence and empower community by providing access to working space, tools, training and beyond. LORE Media & Arts founded by Robert Ramirez is a 15-year-old cultural and specials events production company. LORE, as well as our newly developing foundation, works with NPO’s, NGOs, private corporations, and government/ civic entities to facilitate opportunities for at-risk people in marginalized communities to connect with professional visual artists and community leaders, in order to create public visual arts-based events that promote positive cultural identity of Latino and Mesoamerican indigenous communities, and to empower participants via scholarships to pursue higher academic achievement, and to encourage civic and neighborhood community building through the arts.

IN SEARCH OF THE TRUTH is an interactive transmedia project featuring The Truth Booth, an inflatable portable public sculpture of an iconic, 15-foot high speech bubble. Inside is a video recording booth where the public can tape two-minute videos of them completing the statement, “The truth is…”
The Truth Booth has traveled all over the world and lands at Grand Park on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, from 11am – 2pm at the Event Lawn (between Spring and Broadway). Come by and check it out!

Grand Park’s Olive Court and Performance Lawn will used for the L.A. County GIS Day on WED NOV 14. The event will take place from 9AM – 3PM. This is free public event. For more information about the event, visit lacounty.gov.
Public access through this area will be available via the North and South walking paths for patrons traveling between Grand Ave. and Hill St. Starbucks will remain open in addition to park restrooms and the splash pad.
LUNCH A LA PARK Yoga reTreat that is normally on the Performance Lawn will be moved to the Community Terrace (near the Hill St. Metro Portal between Hill St. and N Broadway)
There will still be two LUNCH A LA PARK Food Trucks serving in Olive Court as per usual, as well as in the Marketplace area (between N Broadway and Spring)
