The Music Center’s Cuba: Antes, Ahora / Cuba: Then, Now, is a three-day exploration of traditional and contemporary Cuban art for the people of Los Angeles. This multifaceted program will provide more than 48 Cuban artists the opportunity to engage with their U.S. neighbors and present their distinctive art forms—dance and music—to audiences at The Music Center and at Grand Park in Los Angeles.

Master Cuban percussionist Lazaro Galarraga and Kati Hernandez, one of the most sought-out Cuban dancers/choreographers in the US, will start out the afternoon and lead an Afro-Cuban percussion and dance workshop.

Following the workshop, enjoy dance performances by students from the Ramón C. Cortines School of Visual and Performing Arts and Dr. Maya Angelou Community High School, The event continues with a Rumba dance party and descarga with a collective of Cuban folk percussionists and dancers, featuring Lazaro Galarraga, Robert Willmore, Kati Hernandez, the band Dayren Santamaria & Made in Cuba, an L.A.-based Afro-Cuban band made up of Cuban and Cuban-American musicians, and celebrated artists Pancho Amat, Telemary Diaz and Yissy García.
